IKUWA3: News

UNESCO Patronage secured for IKUWA3

The IKUW3 project partners are proud to announce the Congress has been awarded the patronage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

UNESCO functions as a laboratory of ideas and a standard-setter to forge universal agreements on emerging ethical issues. The Organisation also serves as a clearinghouse for the dissemination and sharing of information and knowledge, whilst helping Member States to build their human and institutional capacities in diverse fields.

UNESCO patronage is a real honour for the Congress, as it is only granted to exceptional activities likely to have a real impact on education, science, culture or communication.

The project partners feel that like UNESCO, the IKUWA3 Congress is working to create a genuine dialogue based on respect, dignity and shared values, and as such we invite all those interested in the protection of underwater cultural heritage to join us for the Congress in London, July 2008.
